The Amethyst Room

Having gone through another door, you find yourself in a room where the color of the walls varies from pale lavendar to deep violet. The altar is set up with a staute of the Goddess as Iris; the altar-cloth, you see upon closer examination, is purple velvet. The masks of tragedy and comedy sit upon the altar before the statue.

The familiar voice begins another discourse.

"Here in the Amethyst Room, emotions play a very important role; you can see the masks of Tragedy and Comedy on the altar, can you not? Emotions are a vital part of life, and in this room, any and all may be expressed clearly.

"Don't bury your emotions--allow yourself to see them, and gain a clearer understanding of your self. Emotions are powerful forces, much like intuition; if you understand your emotions, you are more likely to understand youself as well as others.

"Comedy is neccessary for the world to survive. If you could not laugh, what would life be like? Dull, and hardly bearable. Laughter is nourishment for the soul. A sense of humor is invalueble. If you can't laugh at yourself, how can you laugh at anything?

"But do not use humor as an excuse to be cruel. It is not funny to single out an individual and attack them for some characteristic that you happen to find undesirable. Live and let live, fairly take and fairly give! Hate and bigotry should never be considered "funny."

"Tragedy is also an essential part of life. Without it, we would grow too complacent, and begin to lose the ability to feel. Tragedy lets us appreciate what we have that is good, and sometimes lets us discard what is bad. Sometimes, a tradgedy liberates you from some slavery you did not know existed until you were free; so it was with one teenag girl, who was a slave to popularity and power, until betrayal forced her to re-examine her values. And often, tragedy is the price of freedom--freedom for a country, freedom for an individual. The United States of America lost many lives in the war that led to its liberation.

"Learn about your emotions. Try to understand them. Become a little better acquainted with your soul."

The light fades as a door appears in the western wall.
